Yantra Mat

Now this isn’t your average yoga mat. For a start it has these spikes on it (see picture) that make you want to run a mile in the opposite direction because it look like you’re about to torture yourself on a bed of nails. But at closer inspection of the benefits of the mat and I decided to give it a go.

Benefits of the Yantra Mat

  • Relieve stress
  • Improve sleep
  • Give you more energy
  • Relieve aches and pains

You can either lie flat on your back or stomach on the Yantra Mat. Or you can place it on a chair or sofa and sit against it and decide how much pressure you place against it. I prefered to lie on my stomach as I found this the most comfortable – after having carefully placed myself on the spikes that is. It took a wee while to get used to the position but once I was comfortable, I was surprised at how relaxing it was. It felt like a relaxation session after a yoga class and I felt myself drowsing off. Obviously with most things, you have to use this regularly to totally reap the benefits of what the mat can do and it’s recommended that you use this 20 minutes per day. I have used it on several occasions now and I do find it calming especially after a workout and I will be using it again. If it really can give me a good nights’ sleep and increase my metabolism, then I think it’s worth investing 20 minutes every day. The best bit is you can still be a coach potato while slumped in front of the box!

The Yantra Mat is small and versatile and costs £39.90. You can buy one from a good pharmacy or direct from Lifes2good www.theyantramat.co.uk
