Losing Weight Is In The Mind

ImageI’m a great believer that everything starts with a thought first and then our actions follow. And this is also true when it comes to tackling our weight goals and ambitions. In fact it was following recent research out on how losing weight is actually down to the mind rather than our stomach, that prompted me to write on the subject, So having a positive mental attitude can change your eating habits and lead to a healthy lifestyle.

So what is the secret to successful weight loss? It’s actually changing your attitude to the way you look at diets. Behaviour is the key to everything.  Unhelpful eating and exercise habits, many of which have been ingrained since childhood, are so hard to break. When people think of diets, they tend to think they have to starve themselves to lose weight and workout daily at the gym to shed fat. But what they need to do is gently change their relationship with food and exercise by retuning the way your mind works, so you never need to diet again. It’s about leading a healthy lifestyle for good. There’s no calorie counting, no horrible tasting food replacements, no hunger pangs, no anguish, no guilt and no pain. As the experts say it’s a marathon not a sprint when it comes to being healthy. Achieving target weight loss requires lifestyle changes. These changes include regular exercise, a sensible approach to healthy eating and the right mental attitude. So from this point onwards, don’t think you’re on a diet, instead see it as living a healthy lifestyle for good. Most of the time you will be eating well and exercising and then there will be occasions when you can indulge a little. Of course it’s going to take time to change the way you think because you’ve thought in a particular way for so long. But if you’re determined to get off the diet, fail, diet, fail bandwagon, you WILL change your attitude and have a more positive approach to your health goals.
