Cardio Myth Busted!

To burn the most calories, you have to do tons of cardio right? How often have you heard that one? Unfortunately so many people believe this so they jump on the treadmill for dear life hours on end thinking that they are doing themselves and their body a massive favour. No wonder some people are put off from the gym in the first place. The reality is that both weight training and cardio burns more calories, but lifting weights boosts your metabolism for up to 24 hours after you work out. Depending on the intensity of your workout and your fitness level, your body will continue to consume additional oxygen and therefore burn more calories, as it returns to its pre-exercise state. For even better results, you should do intervals – that is combinations of cardio and weight training. So you could do cardio one day and then weights the next day. Not only will it keep your workouts interesting, but your body will become an efficient fat burning machine. So get lifting those weights ladies and gents!
