Shed pounds by snacking!

Snacking almost always gets a bad rap. I guess that’s because snacks are often associated with convenience foods like crisps, sweets and fizzy drinks. But believe me snacks can not only be healthy, but could also help with your weight loss goals. In fact I was doing some research and found that boffins believe that healthy snacking may actually help dieters regulate their eating habits. The Study….. A study published in December in the Journal of the American Dietetic Association suggests that there’s definitely a positive side to snacking. That’s healthy snacks that come under the umbrella of fresh raw fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds and unsweetened beverages can actually help dieters in their efforts to shed those unwanted extra pounds. In their experiment, the team discovered that individuals who eat mid-morning snacks can lose about seven per cent of their weight during the course of one year. Those that eat a healthy breakfast and lunch but refrain from consuming unhealthy snacks, are able to lose about 11 per cent of their weight in one year. So snacking doesn’t have to be bad for us, provided that we are careful with when and how we snack. Snacking too close to meals probably wouldn’t help but snacking in between meals to stave off hunger could sabotage dieting attempts. Therefore next time you feel like a snack and your next meal seems like an age away, don’t feel guilty about reaching a snack. Just make sure it’s healthy and nutritious. Your body and scales will both thank you for it!
