Now I’m no party pooper and I’m not telling you not to let your hair down and relax when it comes to the weekend. What I mean is about laying your guard down too much when it comes to eating (and drinking) at the weekend. Many dieters think that by being “good” during the week, it gives them the licence to let go at the weekends. But this could be a recipe for disaster as you could potentially undo all that hard work in a single sitting.
Let’s do the calculation…….
During the week – you scaled back on calories all week by 500. Times that by five and you’ve saved 2500 calories.
At the weekend you have:
a cooked breakfast
a meal out
and some boozing
not forgetting the munchies after the boozing
minus the exercise – you can’t because you have a hangover
and you’ve practically put it all back on and then some!
So instead of letting the days of the week influence your eating habits, focus on creating a healthier lifestyle that is sustainable all month – with the occasional indulgence – to create lasting weight loss. You see when you deprive yourself of things during the week, your mind will crave more of the stuff that you have restricted. As for exercise, most of us with 9 to 5 jobs will have 48 hours over the course of the weekend to do some form of activity. Go for a walk, go for a bike ride, go for a swim, go shopping and carry heavy bags if you like! But whatever you do, MOVE! It will all help in shedding those unwanted pounds 🙂
